Energy is a vital concept in our lives and the need for energy is increasing day by day. According to a study conducted by the US Energy Information Administration in 2011, energy consumption is expected to increase by 35% between 2008 and 2038, while the world’s total energy use is expected to increase from 505 quadrillion Btu in 2008 to 619 quadrillion Btu in 2020 and 770 quadrillion Btu in 2035. Growth in energy consumption is mostly taking place outside OECD countries. According to a study covering 1990 and 2035, energy consumption in OECD countries is expected to increase by 18%, while outside OECD countries this rate is projected to be 85%.
The production, distribution and sale of energy products that are produced, distributed and used to meet the energy needs of countries is known as the energy sector. The sector focuses on the production, distribution and utilization of various energy resources such as natural gas, oil, coal and electricity. The sector also carries out environmental management activities to reduce the impact of these resources on the environment. The energy sector plays an important role in the economic and social development of countries. This sector ensures the supply and economically efficient use of energy resources used in the trade and production processes of countries.
The energy sector consists of activities such as the construction of electricity generation facilities, the development of electricity generation technology and the operation of electricity generation facilities to meet the energy needs of countries. Today, the energy sector is growing rapidly.
