Energy holds a vital place in our lives, and the need for energy grows day by day. According to a 2011 study by the U.S. Energy Information Administration, energy consumption is expected to increase by 35% between 2008 and 2038, and total world energy use, which was 505 quadrillion Btu in 2008, is expected to reach 619 quadrillion Btu in 2020 and 770 quadrillion Btu in 2035. Growth in energy consumption is taking place mostly outside OECD countries. According to a study covering the years 1990 to 2035, energy consumption is expected to rise by 18% in OECD countries, while this rate is projected at 85% outside the OECD.

The production, distribution and sale of energy products that are produced, distributed and used to meet the energy requirements of countries is known as the energy sector. The sector focuses on the production, distribution and utilization of various energy resources such as natural gas, oil, coal and electricity. The sector also carries out environmental management activities to reduce the impact of these resources on the environment. The energy sector plays an important role in the economic and social development of countries. This sector ensures the supply and economically efficient use of energy resources used in the trade and production processes of countries.

The energy sector consists of activities such as the construction of electricity generation facilities, the development of electricity generation technology and the operation of electricity generation facilities to meet the energy needs of countries. Today, the energy sector is growing rapidly.
